Thorsten Luettel studied electrical engineering with a focus on mechatronics at Leibniz Universität Hannover, Hannover, Germany, where he worked primarily on bipedal walking robots. Since 2006, he has been conducting research in the field of autonomous driving at the Institute for Autonomous Systems Technology at the University of the Bundeswehr Munich, Neubiberg, Germany. His main areas of in-terest are sensor data fusion and system integration. As a research associate, he has led several externally funded projects in recent years as well as led “Team Mu-CAR” to success in international competitions. Since 2020, he also leads the research area “Networking and Autonomy” in the dtec.bw-funded project MORE (Munich Mobility Research Campus).
